Emergency Operations Centre Activated


News Release from the Alberni Clayoquot Regional District.  They have activated a Level One Emergency Operations Centre as of 3 pm, Saturday July 4, 2015. The purpose is to provide support for the Forest Service in their response to the Dog Mountain Forest Fire at Sproat Lake.

 

News Release – A declaration has been activated by Josie Osborne, Chairperson of the Alberni Clayoquot Regional District.  To enable the preparation for evacuation of Dog Mountain, including the cabins, the cottages and the fire scenes. Citizens are asked to stay clear of the fire. Slopes and vegetation in the area of the fire are extremely unstable. Boat traffic on the lake is asked to keep clear of fire fighting apparatus, especially helicopters using Sproat Lake as a source of water.
